Nubra MLA demands separate tourism development authority for Nubra sub-division

Nubra Deldan Namgail, MLA wrote a letter to Secretary Tourism Govt of Jammu and Kashmir Sandeep Kumar Naik , has reiterated the long pending issue of creation of separate Tourism Development Authority for Nubra sub-division. 

Nubra has a vast potential for tourism and all requisite criteria such as unique landscape, sand dunes with presence of Bactrian camel, highest motor- able road, ancient Monasteries and Mosques, interesting trekking routes, festivals and the vibrant culture of Muslims and Buddhist communities and huge potential to explore the unexplored tourist destinations in the region, reads the letter. 

In the letter, he mentions that he has also taken up the matter with Governor N.N. Vohra and former secretary to Tourism Farooq Shah several times.  He said that the issue of separate Tourism Development Authority for Nubra subdivision is already in the pipeline with the recommendation of LAHDC-Leh. He also mentioned about raising this issue during the first assembly session in 2015 where CM Jenab Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was keen to extend help and the opening of new Tourist destination in the Nobra Sub-division, even he addressed the same in the house.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary Home Department J&K, Raj Kumar Goel, Deldan Namgyal urged for the issuance of an order to Police Headquarter, J&K to establish of Police Check Posts at village Gonbo and Warshi in view of granting permission to the domestic tourists to visit beyond Panamik up to Yarma Gonbo. He said that setting up of Police Posts at these places is important for the convenient visit of increasing trend of tourists in these areas.

He further approached the Commissioner Secretary Tourism, J&K seeking Govt’s sanction for funding for construction of Multi-Purpose Open Theatres at villages Hunder, Sumoor and Turtuk of Nubra Sub-division. Giving justification for the creation of open theatres at these places, MLA said that these three places are the major attraction for foreign as well as domestic tourists and tourist festivals highlighting the lively cultural heritages of Nubra are held at these places as an annual feature. Deldan Namgyal said that establishment of open theatres at these places would further promote the tourism in the region.
