Need to motivate and mobilise voters : Dr Dawa Administration to focus on marginalised section of voters including specially-abled, NRIs

Like other parts of the country, 6th “National Voter’s Day” was observed on 25 January at Leh under the banner “Inclusive and Qualitative Participation” with great enthusiasm. 

Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo was the chief guest and other prominent presents on the occasion were Executive Councilors Tsering Wangdus, Mumtaz Hussain, and Tsering Sandup. Likewise, it was also observed at all the sub divisions and Tehsils namely Nubra, Nyoma, Khaltsi, Durbuk, kharu, Likir and Sumoor, Saspol. 

Dr. Dawa congratulated all the participants especially new voters who will play a vital role in the forthcoming elections. Handing over EPIC to the newly enrolled people and honoring Tsewang Namgyal BLO Sankar for recording maximum addition and deletion during the summary revision of Electoral Rolls and Sajad Hussain BLO Skanyos for 100% EPIC coverage in their respective areas. 
He stressed upon all the BLOs to give their best so that every eligible voter of Leh district could be enrolled. Talking about the marginalized section of voters, he said that there is a need to motivate and mobilize such voters including specially-abled voters. 

Later, Dr. Dawa administered Voter’s Day Pledge to all the participants in Ladakhi language.  

Earlier, R. K Badyal ADC, Leh and Tashi Dolma ACR, Leh highlighting the importance of National Voter’s Day said that the purpose of celebrating the voter’s day is to woo more new voters and to encourage them to exercise their franchise and this year special focus will be initiated to cover marginalized voters of the society including disabled, NRIs.

To aware masses about Voter’s Day, a quiz competition was also held between Block Level Officers, students above 18 years and students below 10 years, which was won by student below 10 years.  
At the end, Tehsildar, Leh Kul Bushan Khajuria presented the vote of thanks.
