Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Haji Haneefa Jan, undertook a two-day tour of Leh district on November 21 and 22, visiting the villages of Stok, Matho, Chuchot Shamma, Chuchot Gongma, and Chuchot Yokma.

During the tour, Nambardars from all the villages submitted detailed memorandums highlighting key grievances and demands. Many of the concerns focused on PMGSY blacktopping works, along with requests for compensation for land and trees acquired during road construction.

On the second day, the MP inspected the Primary Health Centre at Chuchot Gongma, the newly constructed Mother & Child Health Centre building, and the Higher Secondary School in Chuchot Shamma, where a hostel has been sanctioned. He also visited the Youl-Dat Society, where the Martyr Zakir Hussain Tournament was in progress, and interacted with the participating players.

Further, he inspected the PM SHRI Inclusive Education Centre and the Residential Hostel for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) at Chuchot Yokma. At the Imam Bargah, he reviewed a budget accommodation facility and listened to additional community concerns.

The MP also held interactions with villagers, who raised matters related to flood relief for affected families and the ongoing land dispute concerning the proposed railway track.

Addressing the public, MP Haneefa Jan said that the primary objective of the tour was to directly engage with residents and understand their issues firsthand. He reaffirmed his commitment to being a people-centric representative who works for the collective welfare of Ladakh and its future development.

He assured that grievances will be prioritised based on urgency and public impact, adding that through the judicious utilisation of the MP Fund, efforts are being made to address as many issues as possible with an equitable distribution of resources across Ladakh.
