MP conducts extensive tour of villages; assures swift action on public issues

Member of Parliament (MP) from Ladakh, Haji Hanifa Jan, undertook a comprehensive tour of the Shargole constituency on October 30, accompanied by government officials, to review ongoing developmental works and interact with local residents. The tour covered Sapi, Fokar, Karamba, Khachay, and Serging villages, where the MP listened to public grievances and assured prompt redressal through coordination with the concerned departments.
At Sapi, local Councillor Nasir Munshi highlighted key issues, including land compensation, the inclusion of local labourers in BRO projects, and the long-pending installation of a mobile tower. Responding to these concerns, the MP assured that the telecommunication issue would be taken up with the concerned ministry at the earliest. On reports of wild bear attacks on livestock, he directed officials to take immediate preventive measures to ensure the safety of both residents and animals.
In Fokar, residents apprised the MP of the shortage of teachers and the absence of a headmaster, the non-functionality of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and the urgent need for an ambulance service. They also demanded the establishment of a Model Middle School in the village. The MP assured that all issues would be addressed on priority and directed the officials to expedite necessary actions.
During the visit to Karamba, villagers raised demands for the construction of a motorable road to Thangbu, renovation of bridges and footbridges, improved implementation of JJM, hospital renovation, and repairs to the local library building. The MP assured the community that these issues would be jointly taken up by the Hill Council and concerned departments, emphasizing timely execution of essential works.
At Khachay, residents reported issues such as loopholes in JJM works, manpower shortages, and inadequate water supply affecting nearly 80 households. They also requested financial assistance for Drukpa School, fencing materials for Self Help Groups (SHGs), and the initiation of a Lift Irrigation Project to meet household water needs. The MP assured that all concerns would be addressed in a phased manner and instructed officials to ensure transparency and timely delivery of services.
Concluding his tour at Serging Village, locals requested renovation of the newly constructed community hall, provision of electricity connections, and the creation of parking facilities for pilgrims visiting the area. Haji Hanifa Jan assured the gathering that these genuine demands would be taken up with the relevant authorities and resolved at the earliest possible time.
