Minister Chhering Dorjay inspects Tiri-Phoo road Thousands of devotees visit the holy place with the opening of the road link

To take stock of the ongoing construction work on 10 km long Tiri-Phoo road, Chhering Dorjay, Minister Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs along with Dorjay Motup, CEC visited Tiri Phoo village, Changthang on April 14.

The road constructed at the cost of ₹7 crore under NABARD will not only prove beneficial to the villagers but will also boost tourist influx as the place is known for a famous Stupa which is believed to be similar to Chalung Khashor stupa of Nepal. The place is also a famous pilgrimage destination for the locals. 

People expressed gratitude towards the government for completing the road and informed that thousands of devotees have already visited the holy place with the opening of the road link. 

While addressing the gathering, Chhering Dorjay appreciated the tireless endeavor of engineers of Special Sub Division Nyoma, contractors and villages who contributed to the construction of the road in such a difficult terrain.

He said that with the road accessibility developmental activities will also take place in the coming years. 
An amount of ₹3 Lakh was announced out of his Constituency Development Fund for the construction of community hall in the village.
 
He also urged the youth to explore new trekking routes via Tiri-Phoo to Korzok and Tiri-Phoo to Gya. 

He informed that the tender for the widening of all the sharp turns on the road has already been floated and widening works would start soon. He also directed the  Executive Engineer, SSD Nyoma to widen sharp turns at few locations on priority to ensure plying of heavy vehicles including buses up to Tiri-Phoo village.

Dorjey Motup, CEC directed the engineers to strengthen irrigation khuls along with road construction so that farmers could sow their crops timely. He assured farmers to give land compensation for their agriculture land that comes under road projects.

The delegates also interacted with the people of Hamya and assured to redress their demands on a priority basis.
