‘Saubhagya Rath’ under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna flagged off in Leh

To rule out the possibility of any household remaining un-electrified, ‘Saubhagya Rath’ under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna (PMSBHGY) was flagged off in all the three regions of the J&K.
 
Governor Satya Pal Malik flagged off 10 Saubhagya raths of different districts of Jammu region from Jammu via video conferencing.
 
While in Leh, Moses Kunzang, ADC and Manhar Gupta, Chief Engineer, PDD Leh flagged off Saubhagya rath from DC office on October 31.
 
Manhar Gupta said that the scheme is to provide electricity to every single household of Leh district. Out of 7,000 plus households in need of electricity connection, most of them have been covered.  Electricity poles for some of the places have already been sent and the remaining left out households beyond the survey of the department will be covered by the Saubhagya rath.
 
He said that the rath will travel throughout the Leh district for the entire one month to inform people about this scheme and provide electricity connection within the month of November. Solar lighting will be provided in case of far-flung areas and in the future, existing or new solar lightings will also be connected with the grid.
 
Vinod Kumar, Executive Engineer PDD, Tsewang Paljor, Executive Engineer PDD Project Wing, Tsewang Paldan, District Informatics Officer NIC, Leh, engineers and staff of PDD were also present.
