Leh gears up to boost agriculture and milk production CEC asked to arrange awareness camps in the district and educate farmers about welfare schemes

With an aim to boost the agriculture sector and milk production in the district, a meeting was convened under the chairmanship of CEC, Dorjey Motup on April 7 at Council Secretariat, Leh. 

For redoubling the income of farmers, Dorjey Motup directed the officers of Agriculture and Cooperative department to educate farmers for adopting latest technology for increasing quality production by sowing hybrid seeds for seasonal vegetables across the district. And also, asked to open sale counters for hybrid seeds in the villages. 

He informed about the launch of various welfare schemes for the farmers under State and Centre governments to increase the agriculture production. And asked the agriculture and cooperative departments to arrange awareness camps in the district and educate farmers about the welfare schemes.

Dorjay Motup also urged upon the representatives of cooperative marketing societies to increase the production of milk, onion, potato and garlic across the district.
 
He asked the army officers to provide their full support for marketing of agriculture and milk produces by local farmers so that their income under the production can be increased. 

On the directions, the army officers assured full support to the farmers for boosting the agriculture production across the Leh district.

The meeting was attended by Tsering Wangdus, EC, Agriculture, Gyal P. Wangyal, EC, Health, Tsering Sandup, EC, Tourism, Mumtaz Hussain, EC, Animal and Sheep Husbandry besides senior officers of Army, District administration and representatives of Marketing Cooperative Societies of Leh district and CAZRI.
