Lecturer Kaneez Fatima gets selected for Fulbright Grant Trained 600 teachers of Leh district in the last 10 years at DIET

A new face of an empowered dedicated teacher of J&K state, Kaneez Fatima, an English lecturer of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh bagged semester-long Fulbright Grant under Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers (FDAI) of United States Department of Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

More than 500 teachers from 18 states of India competed for the grant and only 5 teachers have been selected. Over 635 educators applied from around the world, and Kaneez Fatima is among 54 outstanding educators who will be joining this year’s program.

In the year 2007, she was selected for Professional Development Program (PDP) and was placed in University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for a 6 weeks training. It’s her second Fulbright grant.  

By sharing her skills and creating a new force of trained teachers, she has trained around 600 teachers of Leh district in the last 10 years at DIET, Leh.

Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program is a rigorous professional opportunity to promote mutual understanding between educators, their school and communities in the U.S. and abroad. Also, to share best educational practices, enhance educator’s expertise in their disciplines and to prepare participants to serve as educational leaders. They are equipped to apply and share their experience and skills with their colleagues and students upon returning. The program will give umpteen opportunities to work with a group of outstanding educators from around the world that will benefit the teacher’s parent institution and community.
