The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Golden Mile Learning, an NGO, to launch the Reinforced Teacher Training (RTT) Program at an event held in Kargil on September 22.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil; Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor Education; Mohd Hanifa Jan, Member of Parliament, Ladakh; Bhanu Prabha, Secretary Higher Education; Kacho Mohd Feroz, Executive Councillor Tourism; and Dr. Neepa Oza, Programme Director, Golden Mile Learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neepa Oza described the agreement as “a step of hope and aspiration” toward meeting Kargil’s educational needs, particularly in English education and communication. She noted that the RTT program is tailored to address the unique challenges faced by teachers in Ladakh.
In his address, CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon stressed that the program’s impact must be visible at the ground level and announced that its progress will be reviewed annually. He emphasized that the initiative’s primary goal is to benefit students directly and thanked the UT Administration for funding the project. He expressed confidence that the training will strengthen teachers’ English teaching skills, thereby improving student learning outcomes.
The event also featured a presentation by Rinchan Wangmo, who highlighted the RTT Program as a carefully designed initiative to support English language teachers across Ladakh.
