Ladakh Transport Society, Leh, raises several issues with Army

With an aim to resolve various issues with the army in terms of vintage vehicle clause, declining trend of contracts in transportation, vegetable, and milk supply, a meeting of Ladakh Transport Society, Leh was held on December 13 at DC office Conference hall. 

The meeting was chaired by Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, CEC. Stanzin Phuntsog,EC Agriculture heads and representatives of all religious organisations, political parties, different transport unions, and cooperative unions were present.

Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said that civil-army relationship in this strategically important region needed to be remained congenial for all time adding that both are critically interdependent on each other for the security of the Nation. 

He said that there is a need of establishing a direct communication link with the higher army authority with suggestive solutions for all the technical errors and issues so that an agreeable resolution could be put in place in the interest of both the Army and Civil.

He assured LAHDC full commitment for protecting the interest of local people, saying that no stone will be left unturned in addressing all the genuine issues with the Army. 

All the speakers pointed out various problematic issues presently prevailing with Army such as the vintage problem of vehicle, dwindling transportation contract of trucks, buses and taxis, knotty norms in vegetable and milk supply. 

They expressed the need to initiate confidence-building measures between locals and army considering the coordinated contributions and sacrifices made by Ladakhis in safeguarding the borders all time.
