Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, inaugurated a  free cancer screening camp organized by Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation in collaboration with Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Noida, on September 22.

The inaugural event was attended by Mohd Hanifa Jan, Member of Parliament, Ladakh; Sheikh Nazir Mehdi, President, Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil; Dr. Mohammad Abbas, President, Al Reza; and a team of expert delegates from Yatharth Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohammad Abbas said the camp aims to provide doorstep access for cancer awareness and early detection. He noted that cancer cases are on the rise in Kargil and emphasized that such initiatives help people detect the disease at an early stage. The screening camp will continue on September 23 at District Hospital Kargil.

In his address, CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon stressed the importance of ensuring that underprivileged patients benefit  from this collaboration and assured full support from LAHDC. He urged hospital authorities to extend maximum assistance to poor patients, pointing out the limited availability of NGO and crowdfunding resources. He also expressed hope that the UT administration will allocate dedicated funds for super-speciality treatment for economically weaker sections.

MP Mohd Hanifa Jan and Sheikh Nazir Mehdi  also addressed the gathering, thanking Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital for conducting the camp in Kargil.
