Kargil district celebrates 4th International Yoga day

Marking the 4th International Yoga Day celebration, a series of yoga awareness and exercise sessions was held at District Headquarter as well as the sub-divisional levels on June 21 in Kargil.

At Indoor stadium, Vikas Kundal, DC, Kargil highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental fitness and to bring harmony in mind and body. He urged to make Yoga an integral part of life.

Imteeaz Kacho, ADC , Sarwan Singh, SE PWD, Chief Planning Officer, district officers and officials of different departments, trainees of the Sports Authority of India Special Area Games Centre and students of various schools performed different Yoga asanas and ‘pranayama’ (breathing exercise) under the guidance of trained Yoga experts.

Yoga camps were also held at the District Police Line, Boys Higher Secondary School, Government Degree College, District Hospital, Kendriya Vidyalaya Kargil (KVK) and NHPC premises of Kargil, Indoor Stadium Drass, Higher Secondary Chiktan, Sankoo and Padum Zanskar. Hundreds of people including officers, officials, students and yoga enthusiasts participated.
