ITBP River rafting expedition concludes after 11 days Spreads awareness to keep the Indus and Zanskar river clean

The 11-days river rafting expedition in the Indus & Zanskar river (between Padum to Saspol) covering a distance of approx 145 Km by the North West Frontier of ITBP successfully completed on June 25. 

The rafting was carried out for the first time by the ITBP on June 15 with 16 members for the expedition.

J.P. Yadav, DIG (LDK) congratulated the expedition team for the accomplishment of the River Rafting Expedition ‘Jagrook’ led by Rinku Thapa, Second-in-Command & Dy Leader Bhagchand Thakur, Dy Commandant. 

He said that the expedition was not only an adventure task but a campaign with a mission. All rivers of India are holy and efforts are being made to save them from getting polluted.

Tashi Namgyal, Commandant, 37 BN briefed about the expedition. He said that ITBP will take such initiative in future as well and would continue to spread awareness about various schemes of Govt. of India through such adventure activities among the citizens of remote areas. 

Inspired from the Prime Minister’s Namami Gange project, ITBP planned this Rafting expedition with an aim to spread awareness to keep river Indus & Zanskar clean. Also, to contribute in cleanliness drive of the rivers. The team members collected polythene bags and garbage from the River.

‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ and ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign were also part of the awareness programmes carried out by the expedition team.
