International Yoga Day celebrated across Leh district

The 4th International Yoga Day was celebrated with full of vigor and mass awareness about the importance of practicing yoga in daily life on June 21 across the Leh district.
 
The day was celebrated by LAHDC, Leh in collaboration with EJM College, ITBP 5th Battalion, SOS, TCV School Choglamsar, Health Department, Leh at different places of Leh district, in which hundreds of students, army personnel and people participated.

Demonstrating the yoga posture at EJM College, Leh Phuntsog Ladakhi, Yoga instructor said, “Yoga has no religion, it is the art of mind and matter. It purifies the body, mind, and soul which solely depend on keeping ourselves happy in life”.

He said, “Yoga heals mental stress, confusion, depression etc. and gives personality shape up to cope with the tension and problems in our daily life. We should make it a part of daily life and practice it for 15 minutes in the morning and evening every day.”

Deskyong Namgyal, Principal, EJM College, Leh said, “With the change in lifestyle people are getting more mental problems and tension. Yoga seems to be the only solution to overcome these challenges. We should practice it regularly in our daily life."

The yoga day was also celebrated by the ITBP 5th Battalion.

JP Yadav, DIG ITBP, 5th Battalion said, “Being in the army we have to spend most of the time in high altitude border areas and after practicing yoga in our daily life we experience positive changes in terms of mental fitness among our soldiers”.

“Merely celebrating and practicing it on the yoga day doesn’t make any difference we should make it an integral part of our daily life”, he added.

International Yoga day was also observed at Siachen Basecamp, where Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Founder, Isha Foundation demonstrated yoga among the Indian army.
