Hunnar and State marriage assistance schemes to benefit underprivileged girl

Duo schemes for the poor girl living below poverty line “Hunnar” and “State marriage assistance scheme “(SMAS) was announced on 8th February at Leh to maintain the dignity and opportunity to live a dignified life.
“Hunnar" will enable poor girls b living below poverty line to undergo skill development programmes duly sponsored by the Government which will help them to earn dignified livelihood.“State marriage assistance scheme” (SMAS) is a social assistance scheme meant for those matriculate or above orphan unmarried (marriageable, 18 years age and above) BPL girls of the state who may not find themselves in a position to marry due to financial constraints.
The proposed scheme Hunnar, have training and skill development component, which would lead to financing and productive use of human resources in terms of earning of livelihood. The Social Welfare Department, J&K shall be the nodal department for implementation and monitoring of the scheme and the District Social Welfare Officers, within their respective jurisdictions shall distribute the form among the identified poor girls. 
The eligible identified poor girl will be imparted training in skill development, micro enterprises, co-operative societies for the production, manufacturing of goods and marketing of products through different  implementing agencies like Animal Husbandry, J&K State Women’s Development Corporation, Rural Development Department (National Rural Livelihood Mission), Handloom, JKEDI and Cooperative Department. 
In a State marriage assistance scheme, an eligible orphan marriageable BPL girl will receive one time financial assistance of Rs. 25000/and a cost of 05 grams of gold from the competent authority. The beneficiary of Leh district shall have to apply directly to the concerned District Social Welfare Officer, Leh or Child Development Officers on the prescribed document.
For availing benefit under the scheme, the intended girl should be an identified poor girl in the survey lists already available with the concerned DCCs/District Social Welfare Officer and should meet eligibility criteria of the respective schemes.
