Hill Council, Leh, reviews implementation of PMGKAY scheme in Leh district

A review meeting on the implementation of Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana scheme was convened by Deputy CEC, Hill Council, Leh, Tsering Sandup on April 6 at Council Secretariat.

Under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana additional 5 kg rice per soul,1 kg pulses per household will be provided free of cost to every Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household category (PHH) ration card-holders for the coming three months.
Phunchok Stanzin, EC Agriculture; EC, Konchok Stanzin, Education; Anil Kaul, Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Dept. Ladakh were present. 

Briefing about the implementation of PMGKAY in Leh district, Anil Kaul said that in Leh a total of 10,751 PHH ration card-holders with 46,899 souls and 1,716 AAY ration card-holders with 5,089 souls are entitled to get additional ration benefits under PMGKAY. Stocking of 779.28 metric ton rations for three months has already been done.

He informed that Leh district has enough stock of ration to cover National Food Security Act (NFSA) quota till June 2020 while as to fulfill the quota of Ladakh Food Entitlement Scheme, the district has ration stock till September 2020. Also, the stock of LPG has done through IOCL for next five months and two to three months stock of LPG through HPCL. 

Discussion on streaming of food supplies system in the district, verification of ration cards, stocking of Kerosene oil for winter and issuance of new ration cards were also carried out.

Director, FCS&CA Ladakh was directed to update Hill Council Leh about the status of PMGKAY implementation in the district on a daily basis.
