High School Chumathang celebrates annual day function

The annual day function of High School Chumathang was celebrated on October 13. Abdul Qayum, Deputy CEO was the chief guest and Dorjey Motup CEC, LAHDC was the guest of honour.

A total of 40 stall demonstrating different models on subjects such as science, maths, bhoti, urdu, geography, arts and artifact, and many others were showcased. 

Besides a scintillating entertainment program including a fashion show, kungfu by girl students, boxing, dance and cultural performances by school students and villagers of Chumathang were presented.

Abdul Qayum lauded the endeavour of all teaching staff in providing the students with motivation and innovative platform to showcase their intellect and skills through their model demonstration. He said that they have set an example for other schools.

Dorjey Motup said that over the past few years the education standard in government schools of Nyoma and Durbuk areas are improving. He urged the teachers as well as the villagers to work on increasing the enrolment of students in these schools for better education in their own cultural environment.

Padma Tsering, Headmaster said that their objective is to explore student’s potential and talent in academic subjects by means of innovative teaching methods and ensuring the creative engagement of students to make studies interesting. The main reason behind demonstration of stalls with 100% participation of students is to improve self-confidence, communication skills and to overcome shyness behavior in students of the government school.

He expressed gratitude to the teachers and staff for their cooperation, coordination, and commitment in exposing the students to broader vision and innovation as part of their education.

Later, mementos were distributed among meritorious students. Tallest, heaviest and oldest persons of Chumathang village were also awarded.
