Gyal P Wangyal inspects footbridge work over Indus

CHOGLAMSAR: With the dismantling of Choglamsar bridge for a 60mtr span double line bridge, Gyal P Wangyal, Deputy Chairman inspected the construction work of a footbridge on January 24.
The footbridge is being constructed by Rural Dev. Dept. Leh.

Gyal P Wangyal directed Tsering Paldan, ACD Leh and concerned contractor to complete the footbridge within a week time to ease the commuters.

Updating the work progress, Tsering Paldan and Executive Engineer REW Skalzang Dorjey said that iron pipes are being drilled 10 foot from the base of river water into the earth using a submersible pump drilling machine truck to ensure a strong base for the bridge. When completed besides commuters, two-wheeler vehicles can also cross the bridge.

While inspecting the dismantling work of the old bridge, Gyal P Wangyal directed Xen. Construction to speed up the dismantling work so that construction of a new bridge could start at the earliest.

The dismantling work of the bridge was started in the second week of December 2018 and since then people of Choglamsar and Chuchot are complaining about the delay in launching of the new footbridge.
