Dr. Pawan Kotwal visits Drass, inspects tourism project and war memorial

Chief Secretary Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, visited Drass on September 22 to review a cultural site of national importance and pay tribute at the Kargil War Memorial.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, CEO Tourism Development Authority Kargil (TDAK) Nargis Bano, SDM Drass Vishal Atri, Executive Engineer TDAK Morup Dorjey, Councillor Bhimbat Abdul Wahid, and other officials.
During the visit, Dr. Kotwal inspected ongoing work at the Bhim Stone site at Bimbhat, Drass, directing TDAK officials to preserve its cultural and traditional significance. He suggested redesigning the project to enhance its potential as a tourism attraction, noting that the site could appeal to visitors of diverse faiths due to its historical association with Bhim.
Later, the Chief Secretary visited the Kargil War Memorial, where he paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War. He toured the Hut of Remembrance and the Wall of Fame, appreciating the Indian Army’s efforts in maintaining the memorial as a dignified space that inspires patriotism and respect.
Dr. Kotwal lauded the Army for transforming the War Memorial into a symbol of national pride, remembrance, sacrifice, and unity.
