Dismantling of 45-year-old Choglamsar bridge begins

To ensure minimum inconvenience to the public, Gyal P Wangyal, Deputy Chairman directed SE PWD and Exn. Construction to speed up the dismantling work of Choglamsar bridge and to lay foot suspension bridge at a suitable nearby location so that people could cross the river smoothly.

The dismantling work of 45 years old 60 mtr Choglamsar bridge (Martin Burne Calcutta steel structure single line bridge) started from December 11.
Commuters are requested to use Shashi and Spituk-Palam Bridges.

The old bridge will be replaced by a new 60 mtr span double line bridge with a footpath on both sides worth ₹ 7.50 crore under CRF.
