Disaster preparedness programme held in JNV, Kargil

Experts demonstrating methods of rescue and first aid during disaster preparedness programme in Kargil.
Kargil :
A one-day disaster preparedness programme for students was organised by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kargil on December 2 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khumbathang Kargil.
 
Resource persons from the DDMA Kargil and Union Territory Disaster Response Force (UTDRF) Unit Kargil headed by Muhammad Yusuf talked about different aspects of Disaster Management and imparted training on different methods of Rescue and First Aid.  
 
Around 300 students besides teaching and non-teaching staff of the school participated. 
 
Principal Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Kargil appreciated the awareness and training imparted to the students thus, building their capacities to respond effectively during any emergency.
 
The participants were also taught about the dos and dont’s to be followed during natural and man-made disaster situations like floods, earthquakes, fires, etc.
 
Experts said that planning, coordination and high state of preparedness are the key steps to deal with crisis situations effectively. They also highlighted the importance of small precautions to be taken which have the potential to save human lives in times of sudden disasters.
