SABOO :
An enlightening session about disaster mitigation and improvised rescue technique was held at middle school Saboo on 16 March. It was organized by ITBP 24th Battalion in collaboration with Cape of God Hope India, a charitable NGO.

The programme displayed various techniques of tackling disasters like earthquakes, cloudbursts, and landslides; they also showed the various method of making improvised stretchers, life jacket, boat/raft and many other types of equipment to keep you afloat during floods.

The first Aid and life-saving techniques were also taught to the villagers, which will prove handy in case of any emergency.

The villagers participated in huge numbers. Cape of Good Hope India has always been a supporter of such initiatives and highly applauds the work of ITBP and has taken the pledge of organizing many such camps in the remote villages around Leh with the help of ITBP.

The team of Cape of God Hope India believes and works on the famous axiom of ‘prevention is better than cure’ and hence is of the view of educating the people before any disaster. As in case the local people are the first responder to the problem and all solution lies in capacitating them.

Volunteers of Cape of God Hope India distributed booklets regarding dos and don’ts during a crises situation and interacted with the villagers and teachers.
