DC Kargil stresses timely execution of RDD projects, targets 80% expenditure by October end

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, chaired a meeting at the Conference Hall, Baroo on October 6, to review the physical and financial progress of works undertaken by the Rural Development Department (RDD) under the District Capex Budget for the financial year 2025–26.
The meeting was attended by the Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil, Executive Engineers, Block Development Officers (BDOs) of all blocks, and AEEs/JEs of the Rural Engineering Wing.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the status of various components under the District Capex, including CCDA, Untied Funds, and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
He directed the concerned officers to accelerate the execution of pending works and ensure timely expenditure booking, stressing that 80 percent of the total expenditure should be achieved by the end of October.
Emphasizing sustainability in community initiatives, the DC instructed officials to make rural libraries self-sustainable by introducing a nominal user fee. He also directed officers to conduct Gram Sabhas within a week to pass necessary resolutions related to local development activities.
Further, the DC encouraged officials to explore innovative projects under MGNREGA, particularly in sanitation and waste management. He instructed them to collect garbage from private schools and companies and maintain cleanliness and hygiene in rural areas.
