DC Kargil conducts surprise inspections of Schools and Hospital in Drass
 
           Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar conducted surprise inspections of several government institutions in Drass on October 10, including High School Pandrass, High School Muradbagh, Higher Secondary School Drass, and the Sub-District Hospital, Drass, to assess their functioning and ensure accountability. He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Drass, Vishal Atri, JKAS.
At High School Pandrass, the DC observed that several teachers had not maintained their diaries, and some were absent without authorization despite attendance being marked. He directed the Principal to obtain parental signatures on student leave applications and monitor student attendance closely. The Chief Education Officer, Kargil, was instructed to seek explanations from the absentee teachers and withhold their salaries until further clarification.
At High School Muradbagh, the DC reviewed staff attendance and diary maintenance. While satisfied with teacher presence, he instructed that explanations be sought from those who failed to maintain their diaries. He also assessed ongoing remedial classes and expressed satisfaction with their progress. To ensure uninterrupted winter classes, he directed the SDM Drass to make proper arrangements for drinking water supply.
During interactions with students, the DC received positive feedback regarding night classes. Students also expressed gratitude to the SDM for timely resolution of water supply issues.
At Higher Secondary School Drass, the DC inspected the cleanliness of school premises, directing the Principal to maintain hygiene and ensure proper heating arrangements ahead of the winter season. He also reviewed the teaching plan and instructed staff to update and maintain it regularly.
Later, the DC visited the Sub-District Hospital, Drass, where he found good cleanliness and verified that staff attendance was in accordance with the duty roster.
