Council assesses problems of Durbuk sub-division

During the three-day visit to Durbuk  subdivision CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa along with EC-Works, Dorjey Mutup, EC-Tourism, Tsering Sandup, Councilor Tangtse, Tashi Namgail, Councilor Chushul and Konchok Stanzin access the problems on 4th March. 

The main objective of the tour was to take stock of all the problems faced by the people in order to have a planned strategy before the starting of the financial year. 

The council covered all the villages under the Durbuk sub division along with the District level officers, engineers and block level officers headed by SDM Durbuk.

While inspecting the incomplete irrigation canal of Durbuk, CEC directed EC Works to arrange adequate funds to complete the remaining 1 ½ Km canal at the earliest. He also urged the people of Durbuk to make the best use of the canal when completed by cultivating various plants on the chunk of barren land already allotted to the village.
 
Executive Engineer, Irrigation &Flood Control were directed to explore reliable irrigation source for the Shayok village and assured the installation of BSNL towers. 

Talking about the potential of seabuckthorn cultivation in the Shayok belt, Dr. Dawa urged upon the farmers to make the best use of the barren land and assured all possible support.

Inspecting the defunct 35.5 KV Solar Power Plant at Neemgo village, Dr. Dawa asked Engineers of LREDA, to restore all the non-functional Solar Power Plants and to submit the proposal for maintenance to LAHDC, Leh at the earliest. 

He further directed LREDA to provide Solar Home lighting system to the families of Mukleb. 

On the demand of the up gradation of the Medical aid center at Phobrang, He said that all possible action will be taken to facilitate proper medical facilities to the people. 

Stressing on the opening of new tourist routes in Changthang area to boost up the growing tourism industry, EC Tourism, and area councilors were asked to follow up the case with the concerned ministry. He further added that the installation of a mobile tower at Phobrang is in the process and is being followed up by the MP Thupstan Chhewang and hopefully get it installed this year only.  
Dr. Sonam Dawa assured every possible help and assistance in the religious sermon of Drikung Kagyu which is to be held in this summer.

On the demand of the additional rooms for hostel and classroom, separate hostel for boys and girls and the requirement of Physics and Chemistry lecturers at the residential school Tharuk, he said that new hostel building has been approved and construction of same would start when sanctioned.

The councilors are asked to submit a detail report about the demands and shortcomings of different schools of this area. 
Regarding extension of Alchi Hydel Project transmission line to Durbuk Block, Dr. Dawa said that Govt has already decided to connect Nyoma and Nubra region with the Alchi Hydel Project and linking up of Durbuk block with same transmission line is under consideration with Govt. he assured for the continuous follow-up of the same with the concerned ministry. 

In order to provide drinking water facilities in all villages, he directed Executive Engineer, PHE to explore clean and reliable water source and to submit the DPRs accordingly.
