Consultative committee meeting of Councilors held in Leh

The first quarterly Consultative Committee meeting of the councilors of Hill Council was held under the chairmanship of Gyal P Wangyal, EC Health on June 2 at Council Secretariat, Leh.

The meeting reviewed and discussed the functioning of all the departments under the portfolio of Gyal P Wangyal.

In health sector, major issues like engagement of Community Health Workers in different health centres of the district, filling up of the vacant post of doctors, strengthening of ICU ward and upcoming dialysis ward in SNM Hospital with additional paramedic staff, procurement of additional compressor for oxygen plant and automatic power backup for SNM Hospital and coverage of health insurance under Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Swasthya Suraksha Mission in the district were discussed.

Councilors asked about many of the medical staffs who often leave their respective health centers and serve their duty on turn / rotational basis.
 
Responding to the queries, Incharge CMO, Leh said that there is absolutely no such rule in the department and each and every staff of the centers are bound to attend their duties on the regular basis.

He assured to take stringent action against such health workers who violate the service conduct rule in future.

While discussing the power related issues in the district, Councillor Skurbuchan and Khaltsi strongly criticized NHPC for not completing the transmission lines and feeders under RGGVY since 2010 in the Shaam region. The entire Shaam region is getting electricity from a single feeder which causes a huge problem during electric faults in the entire district.

Many other power related issues were taken up with the SE PDD, Ex-en PDD and Engineer NHPC (Alchi) and sought their intervention in solving the problems at the shortest possible time. 

Gyal P Wangyal directed engineers of PDD and NHPC to ensure smooth power supply during holy Ramadan month and urged them to ensure utmost coordination in giving uninterrupted power supply in the district.

The functioning of Industrial Estate Leh, Phyang, Nubra and Khaltsi, ICDS, Forest was also discussed.

Gyal Wangyal urged upon all the officers to pace up the work considering the limited working period and stressed on completing the projects well in time. He directed to review and follow-up the ongoing projects with concerned executing agencies from time to time.
