Choglamsar-Chuchot double-lane road and bridge foundation-stone laid

CHOGLAMSAR :
Foundation stone for the double lane road from Choglamsar to Hemis Phase-I and motorable steel girder bridge was laid by Thupstan Chhewang, MP on June 2 at Choglamsar-Chuchot bridge.

The double lane road is built at an estimated cost of ₹ 1989.43 lakh and motorable steel girder bridge of 60-meter span at an estimated cost of ₹775.00 lakh funded under Central Road Fund (CRF).

Thupstan Chhewang said that up-gradation of Choglamsar-Chuchot Bridge is an important work specially for the people living on the other bank of Indus.

Mentioning new schemes under CRF, he informed about the work on 2 more bridges and road till Kharu in two phases. He said that roads are mandatory to bring development but with it comes the repercussions of heavy traffic causing environmental damages. 

He urged upon the people to take equal care of environment along with developmental facilities. 
     
Dorjay Motup, CEC said that the fabrication work of the Choglamsar-Chuchot bridge has already started in Jammu. He informed that by October as the water level of Indus reduces the re-launching of the bridge will start. The work will be completed by April 2019.

He urged upon the people to cooperate with the executing agency when the work starts for timely completion of the bridge.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by Merchant Association, Choglamsar, Dorjay Motup assured to improve lighting, drinking water and toilet facility in Choglamsar-Chuchot area.

Rigzin Jora, MLA asserted the need for development to make people life comfortable and convenient. He stressed to avoid time and cost over-on by ensuring timely completion of the bridge.

Mumtaz Hussain, EC/Councillor Chuchot expressed gratitude to MP Ladakh for fulfilling his commitment made to the people of Chuchot and villages on this side of Indus bank to upgrade the existing Chuchot bridge on priority.
 
Phuntsog Dorjay, Councillor Phyang also expressed gratitude to Thupstan Chhewang for getting huge funds under CRF for the first time in Ladakh in the last few years.

Avny Lavasa, DC Leh, SE PWD, Ex-en Construction Division, ACD Leh, Nambarders and villagers of Choglamsar, Chuchot, Stok, Hemis and Matho were present on the occasion.
