CEC Kargil inspects Akhoon Mohd Sharif heritage site, reviews R&B works in Suru valley

Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, visited Stangkung village today to inspect the preservation and development work at the Tomb of Akhoon Mohd Sharif, an important historical and religious heritage site.

During the visit, local residents raised concerns regarding the quality of ongoing work and urged proper implementation of the project being executed under the Kargil Development Authority (KDA). Taking serious note of these concerns, the CEC immediately forwarded the villagers’ complaints to the CEO KDA and Deputy Commissioner Kargil for necessary action and monitoring.

Dr. Akhoon assured the public that strict directions would be issued to ensure the project is executed according to approved standards, preserving the historical site with utmost care and authenticity.

Following the heritage site inspection, the CEC visited the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, Suru Valley Division, where he met Executive Engineer R&B, Syed Mehdi. He reviewed the status of ongoing and pending works, discussed issues related to under-construction projects, and addressed concerns regarding land compensation.

Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon emphasized the importance of transparency, timely completion, and accountability in all developmental works. He reiterated that LAHDC Kargil remains committed to protecting the region’s cultural heritage while ensuring equitable infrastructure development across the district.
