Bharat Petroleum extends Swachh Bharat support in Leh

As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility, Maharatna company and India’s second largest oil marketer, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), handed ₹10 Lakh for the construction of a public toilet at Chubi Katpa on August 27.

An MOU between Avny Lavasa, DC and Rajesh Sharma, Territory Manager, BPCL was signed in April 2018 to take the initiative forward. The amount was handed over as the first installment of MOU to Dorjay Motup, CEC in presence of EC’s Gyal P Wangyal and Tsering Sandup.

The construction of the toilet will be carried out by the Rural Development Department.

The officials of the corporation in association with Leh DC identified Chubikatpa because of being a hub place. The administration involved communities of the area and decided to hand over the public toilets after construction to area community for its maintenance later on.

Chering Dorjay, Former Minister Ladakh Affairs in November 2017 requested BPCL to offer support in taking the Swatch Bharat Mission forward.

Rajesh Sharma shared the progress of the company’s business proposals and its contribution in supplying fuel to far-flung establishments of Defense at border areas of Ladakh region.
