BDC elections: 70 validly nominated candidates emerge after scrutiny in Kargil

Kargil :

The nomination papers for the Block Development Council (BDC) elections was submitted by 70 candidates (48 males and 22 females) including 61 independent candidates and 9 candidates from political parties on October 10 in Kargil.

All the candidates remained as validly nominated candidates after the date of the scrutiny. However, the final list of contesting candidates will declare after the last date of withdrawal of candidature on October 11.
 
Under the supervision of District Panchayat Election Officer and Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, all the necessary arrangement for free and fair conduct of BDC elections includes Model Code of Conduct, security management, deployment of polling personnel, transportation and communication plans, setting up of polling stations with Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF), videography, establishment of election control room, appointment of nodal officers for, law and order, expenditure monitoring, IT application, transportation, election materials, training and other.
 
To monitor the nomination process and other related aspects of elections, Election Authority has appointed 7 observers for the 15 blocks which include Barsoo, Bhimbhat, Drass, Kargil, Karsha, Lotchum, Lungnak, Pashkum, Sankoo , Shakar Chiktan, Shargole, South, Tai Suru, TSG and Zanskar
 
A total of 841 voters comprising of the Sarpanchs and Panchs of the Panchayats Halqa in 15 blocks of the district will cast their votes for the election of the Chairmen to the BDCs in these blocks.
