LEH :
The status of the ongoing road and footpath building, public convenience and park work in and around the main market were inspected by Avny Lavasa, DC Leh on October 6.

Taking stock of the work, Avny Lavasa enquired about the materials being used in the execution of the road and footpath. She directed Tehsildar and concerned officers for early resolving of land issues by meeting with the concerned owners.

Tsering Angchuk, Executive engineer, R&B and the architects explained the initial level progress of work and required modifications for better designing and convenience of the people at large. To make the busy road of Changspa more people friendly and less congested, mainly during the summer season, the road will be narrowed down to single vehicular road which would provide wider space for footpath and pedestrians.

The footpath and road work is being built by the R&B Division at an estimated cost of ₹1.50 crore and is expected to be completed by the summer season of 2019-20.

Moses Kunzang, ADC, Rigzin Spalgon, Administrator, MC Leh, Gurmet Namgyal, Tehsildar were also present.

Avny Lavasa also inspected the ongoing work of public convenience building at Zangsti and newly constructed park near old Dak-bungalow.

The public convenience at Zangsti is being built by the administration in collaboration with LEDeG. The building will be solar passive which would be functional even during winters. With large glass window panes, this public convenience would also have a souvenir shop, parking as well as public activity space.
