Secretary Transport Department Ladakh, Saugat Biswas authorized the Registering Authority of Leh and Kargil districts to assign the Registration codes/Registration marks of vehicles, for display thereon in respect of new registrations and Registration of vehicles transferred from others States/UT.

ARTO Kargil and Leh will be the Registering Authority for the districts. LA-01 will be the code number for Kargil and LA-02 for Leh with Registration Marks 0001-9999 for both the districts.

The notification was issued in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub Section (6) of Section 41 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 read with the government of India notification No S.O 4262(E), dated November 25, 2019.
