AIR, Leh, observes its 47th Founding Day Leh transmission line to be upgraded to 25 KW from existing 20 KW next year, says Rajesh Srivastav,

All India Radio, Leh celebrated the 47th founding day on June 25 at AIR Station, Leh. Tashi Angdus, retired Assistant Station Director was the chief guest on the occasion. 

Tashi Angdus as Production Assistant was the first Ladakhi to establish AIR station in Leh in the year 1971 along with other three non-local staff. He was the pioneer information and management of AIR, Leh.

He said that the Leh station has been the most difficult station to start because of the harsh climatic condition, limited resources, facilities and communication modes. 

Sharing his experiences and the challenges faced in framing and production of programs, he made a special mention of first Music Composer of AIR, Leh Late Rinchen Tundup, Alchi Lonpo. He has contributed in preserving core values of Ladakhi culture by reviving and censoring around 800 Ladakhi folk songs that are available today for the present and future generations.    
   
Stating radio one of the most informative and effective medium of communication, he stressed upon language usage and presentation style to make radio programs more effective and interesting. He also stressed on script writing and practising for the radio presenters for every program. 

He urged all the section staff to work in coordination and make every program participatory for the listeners.

Rajesh Srivastav, Head of the Office informed that in next one year the Leh transmission line will be upgraded to 25 KW from existing 20 KW transmitters which will improve the reach of the radio signal in the district. 
 
Sonam Angchuk, Program Head expressed gratitude to Tashi Angdus and shared his contribution in setting up of  AIR Leh station, maintaining an exemplary work culture and highlighting the importance of radio.

Ramesh Chandra, News Head and Phuntsog Dolma, PEX also spoke on the occasion.
