Adhering to Wildlife Act norms, 201 plots distributed among the villagers

The issue of the land dispute at Pangong Lake solved with the distribution of 201 plots to the locals of Maan Pangong A&B Panchayat Halka from Pangong area on April 28. Adhering to all the norms of Wildlife Act, the plots were distributed among the villagers at a suitable location.

The distribution of 201 plots includes 110 to the Phobrang, Yurgo and Lukung Vllages while the remaining 91 plots to the Pangmik, Maan, Merak and Khakted. 

The issue arose due to the encroachment by the locals for establishing restaurants, campsites, resorts, shops and other tourism-related units.

Dorjey Motup, CEC, Avny Lavasa, DC, Konchok Stanzin, Councillor, Chushul constituency and many other officials were present on the day.

Dorjay Motup and Avny Lavasa had an interaction with the villagers of Phobrang, Lukung, Yurgo, Mann, Merak, Spangmik, and Khakted.

They assured for the provision of basic amenities of drinking water, power, and waste management facilities at the new location on a time phase manner. And also asked villagers to shift to the new allotted plots at the earliest.

Dorjay Motup appreciated the efforts of the Revenue, R&B departments and Leh Development Authority for timely demarcation of the land. 

He further expressed satisfaction over the settlement of long pending issue and congratulated the villagers for extending their cooperation.

Konchok Stanzin expressed his gratitude to the council and administration for coming up with the comprehensive project in Pangong.
