₹ 19.74 cr sanctioned to improve roads from Choglamsar to Spituk and Skalzangling to Agling

A project worth ₹ 19.74 crores sanctioned to improve the road from Choglamsar to Spituk and Skalzangling to Agling under Central Road Fund (CRF) Ministry of Road Transport and Highways GoI. 

It was unveiled by Member Parliament Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang at Spituk Markalaga on November 2. To start the road project, the Lamas of Spituk Gonpa also performed a brief Puja.
  
Sanctioned under CRF, the total cost of the project is ₹ 19.74 crore and the total length of the road is 11.87 Kms which includes 7.57 Kms from Choglamsar to Spituk and 4.30 Kms from Skalzangling to Agling. The carriageway of the road is proposed 7.00 meters which is 3.50 meters at present and the completion period of the project is three years.
 
Congratulating the people of Spituk on the occasion, MP Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang said that Spituk village being located very near to the Leh city has been deprived of developmental activities since many years, but with the commencement of this centrally sponsored road project and other GoI’s project like Rurban Mission for Spituk-Choglamsar Cluster and other projects, a new chapter of development will start in Spituk and Choglamsar villages. 

Highlighting the importance of this road, he said that this road will not only prove beneficial for Spituk and adjoining villages but this bypass road will play a crucial role in reducing traffic congestion in Leh when completed. 
 
Expressing happiness over the starting of CRF Project in Leh which is being implemented for the first time in Ladakh, Thupstan Chhewang said that it the generosity of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways GoI, Nitin Gadkari who sanctioned a number of roads for Ladakh.
 
The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa congratulating the people of Spituk thanked MP T. Chhewang for bringing CRF projects for the first time in Leh and for timely completion of the road he appealed the people of Spituk, Agling, Palam and Choglamsar to extend utmost cooperation to the engineers. He also instructed the engineers to mention the quality of road adding that this road must be a model road in the district.  

EC, Works Dorjey Mutup also congratulated the people of Spituk and thanked MP Thupstan Chhewang, Minister Tsering Dorjey Lakrook and CEC Dr. Dawa for their endeavour in bringing CRF Projects in Leh. 

Earlier, Councilor Phyang ,Punchok Dorjey said that this road was neglected since decades despite the immense significance of this road as bypass road or beneficial for Spituk, Choglamsar, Agling and Palam villages and thanked everyone for starting the road project. He also requested CEC for timely shifting of ST lines along the road and appealed every stakeholder to cooperate in the completion of the road in time bound period.
 
Later, MP, T. Chhewang and Dr. Dawa accompanied by all the ECs and Engineers inspected the road from Spituk to Choglamsar. At Choglamsar they also inspected the initial ongoing works of the same project  and directed engineers to focus more on the bridges at  Leh and Saboo Nallahs so that road could be saved during floods.
