Karma Drubgyut Choeling monastery observes annual Gustor ritual

To ward off negative energy destructive in prevalence of Buddha dharma and to bring forth peace and prosperity, Gustor, an annual ritual ceremony of a monastery is observed. On 29th day of eighth month of Tibetan Lunar Calendar, October 22, Karma Drubgyut Choeling monastery observed the annual Gustor ritual. Karma Kagyut’s protector deity; Mahakala’s Sadana or ritual pooja was performed  for nine days which culminates on the 29th day. 

With the burning of storma, which symbolise the cleansing of all the negative energy is consumed by the great Mahakala. A Ritual dance called Shanag or black-head dance is performed on the final day. This dance symbolise the tantric priest holding ritual dagger and skull cup through their exorcism, finally offers storma to the fire as a final act of cleansing.

The mask dance ceremony, normally celebrated for two days was not observed this year as Woeser Dawa (Woda), a senior lama or a former Chakzod of Chemed Rinpoche  passed away recently.
