Rotavirus vaccine launched at SNM Hospital, Leh Vaccine should be given to 6-week, 10- week and 14-week children

Leh :
Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner, Leh launched Rotavirus vaccine in the district on August 28 at SNM Hospital Leh.
 
The vaccine stimulates the immune system and it protects children under-five-year-old from infections that cause vomiting and diarrhea.
 
Sachin Kumar appreciated the efforts of doctors and staff members of SNM Hospital towards the successful launch of the Rotavirus vaccine in the district.
 
Expressing the importance of the vaccine, he said that it can help in bringing down the child mortality rate and to achieve the target of zero mortality rate in future.
 
He further appealed to the parents to take their children of 6 weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks for 5 oral drops of rotavirus immunization to their nearest health centre. The vaccine is made available free of cost.
 
Dr. Mutup Dorjay, Chief Medical Officer Leh said that the introduction of the rotavirus vaccine is a key milestone in the country’s commitment. It will improve the health issues of all the children and reduce child morbidity and mortality rate.
 
Manzoor-Ul-Haq, Deputy Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Tsering Samphel, Medical Superintendent Leh; Dr. Tashi Namgail, DIO; Dr. Mohd. Iqbal, District Health Officer; Dr. Norzin Angmo, DTO Leh, Medical staffs and parents with their kids were present during the launch.
