Hill Council, Leh finalizes Tourism and Culture proposals Proposal will be presented to Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister for State for Tourism and Culture

Ahead of the Tourism Minister visit to Leh, a meeting to finalize the proposal for Tourism and Culture sector of Leh was convened by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC on August 29 at Council Secretariat. 

The proposal will be presented to Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister for State for Tourism and Culture (I/C) GoI schedule to visit Leh in the first week of September 2019.

After brainstorming, list of new projects, pending projects and issues related to tourism and culture of UT Ladakh was fixed. The projects in priority wise will be further crystallized by Dr. Zaida Bano, CEO LDA and Tsewang Paljor, Special Officer for Culture in next couple of days which will be submitted to Hill Council Leh through DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh.

Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP Ladakh informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already directed all the ministries to focus on UT Ladakh so that a visible change could be seen in UT Ladakh in near future. He urged upon LAHDC, Leh and district officers to take the golden opportunity with clear vision and policy.
 
He also informed that to compile and give a practical shape to the proposal of UT Ladakh, two expert officers from Minister for State for Tourism and Culture GoI has already been appointed.

Projects and issues listed under tourism proposal were implementation of Eco-Tourism policy of Leh, helicopter service for tourists, adventure tourism, night stay issue of tourists, winter tourism, opening of new trekking routes, realignment of trekking routes, completion of Convention Centre, Trans-Himalayan, Convention Centre and Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra Leh, planetarium, mapping and outsourcing of toilets, Leh Haat in line with Delhi Haat, introduction of Chokhi-Dhani concept of Jaipur in Leh villages, opening of tourist wards in primary and other sub medical centers of district to minimize high altitude sickness and deaths of tourists, guide trainings, development of hot springs in Ladakh, Sowa Rigpa Hospital, wildlife tourism, Science museum, Satellite phone facilities, waste management, purposeful use of Food Craft Institute and other tourism-related degree and diploma courses in FCI Leh, rock art conservation, traditional polo and archery sports and others. 

In culture sector, projects like culture centre with multi facilities like auditorium, digital library, digital archives, art gallery, state of art museums, culture institutes, culture policy, performing arts institutes etc were finalized for the final proposal.
