Govt Higher Secondary School Diskit wins the 2nd Great Ladakh Quiz Contest 2014

Government Higher Secondary School Diskit Nubra (Stanzin Chuskit and Tsering Dolma) lifted the Great Ladakh Quiz Contest 2014 trophy for the second consecutive year, held at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra Leh on October 16. The event was hosted by Deepak Vohra, Ambassador, and Special Advisor to PM on Southern and Western Africa organised by Education Department Leh and sponsored by Desh Bhagat University from Mandi Gobind Ghad, Punjab. The event was chaired by CEC LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar.
 
Ladakh region was divided into four zones-East, West, North and South and the winners compete against each other for the grand prize. Winning teams who reached the finals were Government Higher Secondary School Diskit, Government Higher Secondary School Saspol, Government Higher Secondary School Chuchot Shamma and Lamdon Senior Secondary School Leh.

The quiz contest were divided into different subjects ranging from Health, History, Geography, India, Nature, Discoveries, Science, Music, Sports, Mythology, Host’s choice and Monuments.

Government Higher Secondary School Diskit defeated Lamdon School with a narrow margin of 20 points and won the cup. Govt School Chuchot Shamma stood third and Govt High School Saspol got 4th position.

Winning School was awarded a cheque price of Rs 10000 and 2000 to each member of the team, 1000 to each member of runner up team, 750 to the third team and Rs 500 each to the 4th position holders.

The main purpose of this quiz contest was to develop general knowledge, provide platform to the younger children of Ladakh to expand their horizon and experience and also to offer scholarships for Ladakhi students in different Indian University.
