AIR Kargil organised Singing contest on Nouraz

All India Radio, Kargil, has organised a Jashn-e-Nouroz programme on 23rd March in which papers on Nouroz were presented by scholars and besides that a singing competition was also held at Auditorium Hall Kargil.

 

On this occasion the Deputy Commissioner Kargil Mohammad Sadiq Sheikh was the Chief Guest and SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar was the Guest of Honour and others present on this occasion includes, SE Mechanical Ladakh, ASP Kargil Mohammad Younus Bhat, and other district officers and hundreds of people.

Haji Mohammad Baqir presented a paper on Nouroz celebration in context with religious perspective and Mohammad Sadiq Hardassi presented a paper on Nouroz celebration and its cultural importance in the Purig Society.

The Jashn-e-Nouroz celebration was followed by music and dance items by various cultural Troups presenting the diverse culture of Kargil.

Appreciating the role of AIR Kargil the Chief Guest said that it is one of the most popular media in Purig and it is working for the preservation of the culture, tradition and ethnicity in Kargil. Celebrating Nouroz is a step towards promoting and preserving the culture, tradition and ethnicity of Purig and according to history it is a tradition of 3,500 years ago.

In the second half of the celebration the Grand Finale of Sur-Ka Milan Singing Competition Programme was conducted and around 500 audiences witnessed the finale.

Talking about the programme Nissar Naseem, the Programme Head of Office AIR, Kargil said that the programme was started in December 2013 and around 25 participants from all over Kargil participated in the singing contest, out of which Altaf Ahmed Bhutoo from Kashmir and Ahsan Ali from Chanigound Kargil reached the finale.

Nissar Naseeem appreciated the effort and contribution of the five Judges who made this event a great success in Kargil. 

Altaf Ahmed presented two Hindi songs and one Kashmiri while Ahsan Ali presented one Shina and two Hindi songs. On the basis of the live performance of the two finalists the judges adjudged Altaf Ahmed Bhutto as the winner of Sur Ka Milan Programme while Ahsan Ali bagged 2nd position during the Grand Finale cum Jashney Nouroz.

SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar presented Certificates and cheque of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 to the winner and runner up of the programme respectively.

Sujit Kumar appreciated the two finalists and advised them to take singing as a profession.

Talking about the AIR Kargil he said that it is due to media that people come to know about the various initiative of the Government. He said Radio plays a very important role in bridging the gap between public and administration through its programmes like Yeh Kargil Hai, Kargil Namah etc.  He also congratulated for conducting the event to celebrate Nouroz and wish success for Sur Ka Milan programme.

The vote of thanks was presented by Ramesh Kumar AD (E) AIR Kargil. He said that AIR will organise such programmes in the future also and will always remain the voice of the people of Kargil.
