District Level Urdu Mushaira held in Kargil

With the objective to give fillip to the art of poetry in Urdu language and to provide a platform to the Urdu poets of Kargil District to express and exchange their fresh poetic endeavours in Urdu language Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Kargil organized a District Level Urdu Mushaira on 30th May at Academy Hall Baroo, Kargil.

The Mushaira was presided over by the noted senior writers and poets.

In his speech Haji Abdul Hamid Tanvir hailed the initiative of the Academy for organizing this first ever District Level Mushaira in Kargil. Expressing satisfaction over the growing number of poets and poetic appetite among the novice poets Tanvir commended the role of Cultural Academy Kargil in offering them suitable platform on this front from time to time. He also urged upon the poets to devise their poetry while taking good care of the poetic rules. Tanvir added that good poetry is characterized by a healthy combination of literary devices like simile, metaphor, symbolism, audio visual imagery and the like.

Earlier while welcoming the guest Muhammad Ali Tak Cultural Officer Kargil said that the Urdu Mushaira was organized with the twin aim to give impetus to the art of poetry in Urdu language and to provide the Urdu poets a platform to sit under one roof so as to let them express and exchange their poetic exploits in Urdu language.

While echoing the pledge of the Academy towards the uniform promotion and preservation of the local literatures besides Urdu literature Tak said that Cultural Academy is planning to organize literary activities in the block headquarters of the district apart from the district headquarter.

Among others who were present on the occasion included poets, writers, district officers, school and college students, and a large number of general public. Nazir Hussain Special Officer for Cultural Activities G-1 delivered the vote of thanks at the end.
